As a life-long entrepreneur, Mr. Hamilton brings over a decade of managing teams and project work flows in start-up companies. Shayne’s passion has long been tied to the medical cannabis industry with nearly 15 years of experience in growing medicinal cannabis under the Marijuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR). It was Shayne’s appetite for moonshot ideas paired with his propensity towards collaboration have taken True North from a single hemp-grain contract to the prevailing strategic position in the cannabis sector.
Brett Halvorson, CFAChief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer for True North Cannabis, Mr. Halvorson brings over ten years of corporate finance and commercial experience from both the agriculture and mining industries. His unique background within the agricultural sector provide True North Cannabis with a proven platform for its commercial and corporate operations. Along with this, Mr. Halvorson plays a critical role in the advancement of the long-term strategic direction of True North Cannabis. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and is a CFA Charterholder.
Mike Tracy, CETChief Operating Officer
Mr. Tracy brings over 15 years of project management and in-field operations experience. Through a progressive leadership style, he is instrumental in shaping the structure and culture of our operations team to deliver exceptional in-field service and production performance through teamwork, lean operating methods, and a mindset towards continuous improvement. Mr. Tracy graduated from the electronics engineering technology program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Hugh Ross, B.A. Director
As a successful serial entrepreneur, Mr. Ross brings to the TNC board proven corporate leadership formed over a career of leading several successful ventures in Oil & Gas. His extensive experience in capitalizing and developing start-up ventures, managing relationships with rural land owners across Western Canada, and networking within the investment community provides TNC with established, experienced oversight and governance.
Kyle Rookes, B.Comm Director
A career investment banker with a demonstrated history of building relationships and closing deals, Mr. Rookes brings extensive experience in M&A, Corporate Finance, Strategic Planning, Investment Banking, and Equity Capital Markets. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary with a dual major in Finance, Risk Management & Insurance.
Natasha Ryz, PhD, MSc, BSc, Vanier Scholar Director
Dr. Ryz is the Chief Science Officer of Zenabis, a federally legal licensed producer group in Canada with a focus on medical cannabis research and development. She has a PhD in Experimental Medicine from the University of British Columbia and is a Vanier scholar. In addition, she also holds a Master’s of Science degree and a four-year Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Human Nutritional Sciences.
Dr. Christian Turbide, MDFRCPC Director
Dr. Turbide is the Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary and Examiner at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons for Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He serves as a faculty member at Seacourses, teaching about maintaining health on cruise ships. Dr. Turbide has received further training in Clinical Nutrition and Functional Medicine with the Institute of Functional Medicine and will provide TNC with a medically informed perspective from the science community.
Dr. Guy Chamberland, M.Sc., Ph.D., Master HerbalistDirector
Dr. Chamberland currently serves as Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer of Tetra Bio-Pharma, a biopharmaceutical leader in cannabinoid-based drug discovery and development with a clinical program aimed at bringing novel drugs and treatments to patients and their healthcare providers. His extensive and broad-based experience in both executive and scientific roles establishes Dr. Chamberland as a seasoned and knowledgeable professional in the biopharmaceutical space. He brings to the TNC board a wealth of industry experience and expertise, including over 22 years of experience in new drug development for the pharmaceutical industry (Canada and USA) with specific expertise in regulatory affairs, and the development and management of clinical research protocols and clinical studies for botanical medicines.
